Democratic Montenegro, Aleksa Bečić’s party, launched an initiative to the Constitutional Court on 26 November by means of which they are contesting the constitutionality and lawfulness of the recently rendered decision of the Council of the University of Montenegro stipulating that the authenticity of master theses written before 2015 can be subject to check. That decision formally enabled the possibility for the Council to establish whether Bečić’s thesis was a plagiarism.
Democrats requested that the Constitutional Court issue temporary measure of the suspension of the procedure. One of the judges wanted to consider this initiative in an emergency procedure.
His request was rejected and this case will be considered in the regular procedure.
During the yesterday’s meeting, the Council said categorically that their decision had been rendered in accordance with the Constitution and the law.
