Begovic: I filed a complaint, I expect a decision by Monday

Judge for investigations of the Higher court in Podgorica Miroslav Basovic sentenced Svetozar Marovic on a 30 day detention because of the “fear of influencing the witnesses and a manner of his criminal actions an consequences”. 

His lawyer Zdravko Begovic said for radio Antena M that he is not satisifed by this decision of the court.

“I think that detention reasons ceased to exist and that the detention wasn’t necessary so I filed a complaint this morning to the Criminal council of the Higher court in Podgorica on the Decision for detention and I expect a response on my complaint”, said Begovic. 

All key participants of “Budva affair” confessed guilt for multimillion damage caused to Budva and the country in several different cases. 

Already in detention are Marovic’s son Milos, brother Dragan, aunt Mirjana and there is an active process against his daughter Milena and Milos’s mother in law Dragica Popovic. 

Charges for abuse of public service position in cases of TQ Plaza and jaz plateau were filed against former mayor of Budva Lazar Radjenovic, former vice president of the city Dragan Marovic, prime minister’s councellor Aleksandar Ticic, former vice president of  Budva Milenko Medigovic, then Novak Klisic, Djordje Pavlovic, then executive director of “Gugi komerc” Dragoljub Milovanovic and several other officials. It is estimated that in these two cases city of Budva was damaged for around 10 million euros.
