Better network services

Failures in the network, most often caused by disruption in electrical energy, used to be reported via landlines to dispatch who would then send teams out in the field to resolve the issue. Today Montenegro has National Dispatch Center, that immediately registers network issues and removes them as soon as possible.

Director of NDC Branko Stojkovic spoke to DN about the beginnings and new projects.

DN: When did NDC start working and how did it change until today?

Stojkovic: During the 50’s, the first dispatch center started working in Montenegro. It was situated in the Administrative building of EPCG, where we have our back-up NDC today. We moved to a new building in 1992.

DN: Can you immediately identify failure in network or substation?

Stojkovic: We get the information immediately, because the supervision is 24 hours. We have 11 dispatchers. If there is a failure in network, dispatchers react promptly in order to preserve the power condition. We have back-up supply for almost every municipality.

DN: What are the exact duties of NDC?

Stojkovic: We are in charge of the transmission system for 400, 220 and 110 kW networks. We supervise the system and are connected with BiH, Kosovo, Serbia and Albania. Hopefully by 2019 we will have a connection with Italy as well.

DN: You recently started a project of construction of the new SKADA/EMS system. Can you elaborate?

Stojkovic: SKADA system represents direct supervision and data collection. EMS is used by dispatchers for monitoring of the system.

DN: Do you comply with EU standards?

Stojkovic: We are a member of ENTSO-E. We respect all the standards of EU.
