Monstat statistics show that trend of migrations within Montenegro continues.
Last year, 5.162 individuals changed residence, which is 837 more than year before that.
Negative migrations (more of those who are leaving) characterize the north of the country. 1.085 individuals left that region last year.
The most people leave from Bijelo Polje (429). They mostly move to Podgorica or Bar.
Niksic
Niksic comes close to Bijelo Polje, but there is also a lot of people moving in.
The numbers show that 678 people left Niksic, mostly to move to Podgorica or Budva. Since 2011, 1.555 individuals moved to Niksic.
After Niksic and Bijelo Polje, the most people leave Berane (360) and Pljevlja (266).
The coast
Last year, the most people left from Bar to Podgorica (166), 46 to Bijelo Polje, 45 to Ulcinj and 29 to Rozaje.
People from Kotor moved to Tivat (72), Podgorica (63), Budva (24) and Herceg Novi (22). People from Budva moved to Podgorica (83), Niksic (25), Cetinje (17) and Kotor (14).
10.454 people moved to Podgorica
Last year, 1.854 citizens moved to Podgorica, while 864 people left. They mostly moved to Danilovgrad (130), Budva (121) and Bar (100).
Women more likely to change residence
“From 5.162 people who changed residence last year, the most were women – 53,8% or 2.778, while men made up 46,2% or 2.384 of total number”, Monstat published.
