Vice prime minister Vujica Lazovic said that the government wants to save the strategic partnership with A2A within Electric power company of Montenegro (EPCG) because it’s the biggest investor in last ten years in Montenegro, which comes from western Europe and from a country founder of the European Union.
„If we don’t sign this contract there won’t be a second block of the Thermal power plant (TE) in Pljevlja. If we don’t start the construction this year, there will be no economic development of Pljevlja and an enegetic crisis might happen in Montenegro”, said Lazovic.
Basic principle of the new contract with A2A is that there will be a second block of the Thermal power plant in Plevlja, said Lazovic.
Minister of economy, Vladimir Kavaric, said that EPCG is a better company today than in 2009 based on all parameters.
„Today we have a situation that A2A can support the second block of TE but it also doesn’t have to. By signing the new contract they accept this obligation. A2A can sell its shares to whomever they want today and under any conditions they want to. Under the new contract the government will have the right of priority purchase. I think this is undoubtedly a better deal for us”, said Kavaric.
He also added that A2A could start an arbitration process today, and in case of signing the contract they won’t be able to.
„The only obligation is that we have to buy the shares if A2A activates the leave option and that is perfectly acceptable”, said Kavaric.
