One of the accused Kavac clan leaders, Igor Bozovic, has failed to appear at the hearing today on the Special Prosecutor’s Office’s (SDT) motion to remand him in custody. The President of the High Court, Boris Savic, is expected to decide whether an arrest warrant against Bozovic will be issued.
Bozovic’s attorney, Dragoljub Djukanovic, said that his client was on medical treatment without specifying his whereabouts.
“I do not have new information. You will be informed about the further proceedings and decisions of the court,” Djukanovic told reporters.
Bozovic left Spuz prison on 4 August, after he served prison sentence for international drug trafficking. Only after a few days, the court received special prosecutor’s proposal to send Bozovic to remand prison. It seems that this was a late reaction, because the suspect is believed to have taken advantage of being free and escaped.
Bozovic is suspected of creating a criminal organisation along with fugitive Slobodan Kascelan at the end of 2010. Then, they recruited other 13 accused involving them in usury, smuggling drugs and money laundering. According to SDT, the two were in charge of planning and commissioning of criminal offenses, as well as giving instructions and orders to other members of the criminal group.
The SDT’s allegations also include Aleksandar Djurisic, Vladimir Bozovic, Sinisa Vlahovic, Igor Djurisic, Davor Prelevic and Milos Radonjic, who are still at large. The accused also include Stefan Brnovic, Gjergj Camaj, Aleksandra Bogdanovic, Nikola Andric, Igor Andric, Tripa Moskov and Goran Ljubatovic.
