Bozovic’s attorneys claim he did not escape

Kotor resident Igor Bozovic, one of the alleged leaders of the Kavac clan, is still at large. The Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) has recently issued indictment charging him with racketeering, drug dealing, money laundering and usury. However, SDT has not required remanding him in custody when he was released from prison after serving his sentence for smuggling drugs, Dnevne Novine writes.

Bozovic left Spuz prison on 4 August. Only after a few days, the court received special prosecutor’s proposal to send Bozovic to remand prison. It seems that this was a late reaction, because the suspect is believed to have taken advantage of being free and escaped. This can be concluded from the fact that he has failed to appear before the investigation judge in the past days. Therefore a bench warrant against him was issued.

Although it is not ruled out that Bozovic, as a free citizen, is spending his time out of Kotor, does not receive judicial summons and plans, as his attorneys Dragoljub Djukanovic and Bojana Franovic claim, to appear at the trial in September, it is questionable whether and when he will be available to the authorities.

Bozovic’s attorneys, however, claim he didn’t escape from Montenegro. According to them, he intended to appear before the court in September, since no one informed him he should be there before the trial.
