Brajovic: Montenegro to persevere in implementing reforms

Parliament speaker Ivan Brajovic said that Montenegro was firmly committed to persevere in reform activities in order to complete the accession negotiations in a quality way and become the next member of the Union.

Brajovic met the head of the Delegation of the European Union to Montenegro, Aivo Orav, today. The officials discussed the upcoming activities related to the integration of Montenegro, with an emphasis on 2018 as a very significant year for the Western Balkans.

They expressed expectation that the Western Balkans Integration Strategy, announced by the European Commission in early February, would be focused on its enlargement policy through its measures and further encourage candidate countries.

This would also be contributed by the visits of senior European Union officials to Montenegro, which was announced for the first half of this year.

Brajovic and Orav also talked about the upcoming presidential and part of local elections. The Parliament speaker emphasised the importance of further enhanced election legislation, as well as good co-operation with the ODIHR.
