President of Montenegro’s Parliament, Mr Ivan Brajović, said that, in the past decade, Montenegro’s parliament had been improving legal solutions, with the aim of creating favorable environment for independent functioning of all government branches.
“Prosecutors in Montenegro are going through a very challenging period. Having in mind the delicacy of their profession, institutional status in a young democracy and particularly interest in measurable results inside and outside the country, Montenegrin Prosecutor’s Office is constantly under the magnifying glass”, pointed out Mr Brajović, at the reunion organized to mark the Day of State Prosecutors.
Mr Brajović said that “powerful organization of prosecutors and success in resisting pressures of any kind, are the indicator of one country’s readiness to enable and hold firm rule of law, which is a fundamental prerequisite of the Constitution and the supreme principle of every institution in the country”.
“I firmly believe that the degree of political maturity in Montenegro is getting higher and that MPs will consider proposals of the Prosecutor’s Council for the selection of those who will perform the function of a prosecutor in accordance with the candidates’ highest professional and moral features. That’s our ideal and it might not be completely achievable, but that’s something we shall strive for”, said Mr Brajović.
Mr Brajović said that we had to be aware of the constitutional principle of division of powers, cherish it and make contribution to it.
“That will lead us into the future we all want – prosperous Montenegro. That’s how we can overcome challenges we are faced with. Prosecutors, you need the support of your country and we are here to pledge it. What we expect from you is success, justice and results”, concluded Mr Brajović in his address.
