For 13 days spent in the courtroom of Montenegrin High Court, the key witness in the alleged election-day coup plot, Sasa Sindjelic, was asked more than 2,000 questions, many of which had nothing to do with court proceedings.
Defense lawyer Miroje Jovanovic, representing the leaders of the opposition Democratic Front, asked Sindjelic 378 questions in total and thus took the lead, says judge Suzana Mugosa.
These data clearly point out the intention of defense lawyers to obstruct and prolong coup case trial as much as possible. It is obvious that those who pay defense lawyers, representing the accused for serious offences, have large amounts of money and do not regret spending it. These are the same people who financed the Democratic Front (DF) and a criminal group organized to overthrow the pro-Western government, kill the then PM Milo Djukanovic on election day, and change the government by force.
Four lawyers from Belgrade
According to estimations of some Montenegrin lawyers, costs of financing four defense lawyers from Belgrade – Petronijevic, Jovanovic, Radosavljevic and Petrovic, are tremendously high. Beside their engagement in representing the alleged coup plotters, they have been paid their airline flights and accommodation in Podgorica, as well the costs of appeals, correspondence, copies of the documents, etc. amounting to €1,000 per day, i.e. a minimum of €4,000 per day, for all of them.
