Bratic urges acting headteachers to elect new deputies a.s.a.p.

Vesna Bratić

The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Vesna Bratic, sent a new letter to schools, this time urging the newly elected acting headteachers to publish public competitions for the selection of their deputies. The letter that Dnevne Novine daily had the insight into suggests that new deputies should be elected within 60 days from the day of entering into force of amendments to the Law on Education, that is, until 12 August.

According to Stanka Vukcevic, the President of the Social Group of Subjects, this deadline as well as the manner of selection is in dispute.

Ms Vukcevic also notes that the request of the ministry is impossible to fulfil as, according to law, deputies are not being elected by acting headteachers but headteachers. Besides, she says, it’s impossible to meet the set deadline.
