Budva bypass construction begins in 2021

Budva

Construction of the bypass around Budva, planned to be built as part of the Adriatic-Ionian corridor project, will begin during 2021, said the representatives of the Ministry of Transport.

They said that the European Union had provided considerable assistance for this project. So far, Montenegro has received around €9,5 million through the Western Balkans Investment Framework.

“Provided assistance refers to the Adriatic-Ionian corridor feasibility study. The study is expected to be completed in the first quarter of the next year and will provide us with relevant economic indicators”, says Ms Angelina Živković, from the Ministry.

She says that the road will have for bypasses, around Herceg Novi, Tivat, Budva and Bar.

“The priority will be given to the bypass in Budva as there’s a huge traffic volume there and Budva really needs that expressway. We’ve received €4 million grant for the development of conceptual design for the entire Budva bypass”, says Ms Živković.

She points out the bypass will be around 30 kilometers long. Apart from the conceptual design, the Main Project and the Environment Impact Assessment are required.
