Nikola Bulatovic, the head of the Office for Supervision and Control of Operations at the Airports of Montenegro (ACG), will file a whistleblower protection lawsuit with the Basic Court in Podgorica against the management of that company, which he claims protects the persons responsible for the erroneous payment of over half a million euros in March of this year, while they are trying to systematize and abolish the department that discovered the error, Gradska RTV announced. Bulatovic, in his statement for Gradska RTV, accuses the ACG management of violating the law on companies, as well as causing financial damage to the company.
He has recalled hat in March there was a disputed payment of €551,000 from the ACG’s account to the wrong account, which should have been paid to an English company for the procurement of airport equipment. With the quick bank intervention, the funds were stopped, but, as Bulatovic points out, the sum of €42,000 was never returned to the ACG’s account, nor were penalties in the amount of 5% of the value due to late delivery (ca. €28,000) collected, which the ACG was entitled to as stated in the procurement contract, so the total damage was around €70,000.
Bulatovic emphasizes that instead of the new ACG management dealing with these problems, they have now decided to shut down the department in which he works and which revealed all the irregularities. He believes that the new management is protecting its predecessors, which is why he turned to the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (ASK) in order to obtain whistleblower status, and today he will file a lawsuit against the manager, whom he considers to be acting irresponsibly.
