Mayor of Podgorica, Mr Ivan Vuković, chaired the second session of the newly-formed Council on the Improvement of Business Environment in the Capital which was held today. The manager of the Capital City, Mr Marjan Junčaj, presented development and investment potentials of Podgorica, while acting secretary of the Secretariat for Finances, Ms Snežana Popović, acquainted members of the Council with the Decision on the Mitigation of consequences of the coronavirus.
Mr Vuković pointed out that members of the Council are people who “have been changing the image of Podgorica and Montenegro for years and decades”.
“Today, we are taking a huge step forward in overall development of the Capital. Having regard to the circumstances, every crisis represents a new chance and offers messages and answers to questions, as well as opportunity to improve our work. I want to ensure you that Capital will always be your reliable partner”, Mayor pointed out.
Mr Junčaj presented development and investment potentials of Podgorica. He pointed out that Capital was a stable financial system which would be creating conditions for the development of business in Podgorica.
He reminded that the Capital had formed nine business zones and presented their advantages and incentives.
Mr Junčaj said that smart-city concept and application of smart solutions, along with modernization of city transport through digitization of the public transport system, construction of storey garages, production of bottled water and projects related to the use of renewable energy would be great chance for all potential investors.
Ms Popović said that the Capital has rendered Decision on the set of measures for mitigation of coronavirus consequences. That will reduce the budget by 4,38%. She reminded that the Capital had stable source of revenues.
“Measures are aimed at reducing costs of the current budget, creating conditions for the resumption of capital projects, through specific reliefs for contractors, support for legal entities, reduction of some taxes, fees, exemption from paying rent, fees and public utility services… “, Secretary concluded.
