Montenegro in current budget surplus

Minister of finance Darko Radunovic emphasises that Montenegro is now running a current budget surplus for the first full year since 2008.

He said this at a meeting with Standard & Poor’s credit rating analysts, led by country director Maxim Rybnikov.

The minister added that the government had created a credible fiscal consolidation plan, whose consistent implementation, according to projections, would lead to a surplus of the central budget and a reduction in the level of public debt below the Maastricht limit in 2020.

The occasion of the visit was related to the collection of data on the current economic situation in Montenegro, based on which further assessment of the country’s credit rating by the agency will be carried out.
