According to the findings of the newspaper, the Government of Montenegro in 2006 sold its majority shares of UTIP “Montenegro”, which included the camp and hotel “Zlatica” and hotels “Ljubovic” and “Montenegro” for a total of 4.760.000 euros the “Normal company”, only to have the Police department buy back camp Zlatica in 2011, for the purposes of its special units – but for as much as 8.339.999 euros.
The Special Prosecutor’s Office told Dnevne Novine the case is at the stage of preliminary investigation, with currently ongoing collection of documents from the relevant authorities.
According to unofficial information obtained by the daily, in addition to collection of documentary evidence, the prosecution will probably need to question – for now only as a citizens – actors in this event, Veselin Veljovic, who on behalf of the Police Authority signed the contract for the purchase of the camp, and the owner of “Normal company”, Zarko Buric.
During the proceedings, according to unofficial information from the prosecution, the ministers who were part of the Government headed by Igor Luksic will also be heard.
The buzz about the purchase of the camp in use of elite police units since 1998, started in December 2013 at the parliamentary Committee for Security when SNP deputy Velizar Kaluđerović said at a session the purchase was very problematic. Minister of Police Rasko Konjevic agreed with him, noting that the right address to send this question to was the prosecutor.
Purchase of the camp was the theme of a control hearing of the Parliamentary Anti-corruption Committee as well, in the end of 2013. Former Supreme State Prosecutor Veselin Vuckovic then sent a letter to inform the MPs that the Prosecutor’s Office had opened proceedings concerning the purchase.
