Actions of the Montenegrin administration are in the interest of the citizens of Montenegro, not in the interest of Serbia, Russia, or anybody else. And every state’s administration should act that way, says Nenad Čanak, president of the League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina.
Serbia is faced with many challenges and Čanak is sure that Montenegro, being the closest state in the region, be able to understand some inappropriate reaction.
“I am sure that wise actions of Podgorica will be a guarantee of a stable and constructive cooperation between Serbia and Montenegro in the future. I also believe that presidents of Serbia and Montenegro will find a way to overcome crisis, since any other action would be wrong. On the other hand, it’s impossible to expect that presidents of two countries can share same opinions all the time. From that angle I look at the voting regarding Interpol membership of Kosovo”, says Čanak.
He points out that the time will show that Serbia will never have better friend than Montenegro, and vice versa.
“It’s important to get rid of the past and finally leave it behind. When that happens, it will be much easier to agree on all the relevant issues”, says Čanak.
Every autochthonous political decision of the Montenegrin authority is questioned or regarded as a riot against general Serbian interest.
“It’s logical that this way of thinking will provoke divisions and bring into question the Montenegrin nation as such”, says Čanak.
