The main contractor on the priority section of the Bar – Boljare highway, the Chinese company China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) has been exempted in the last three years from paying nearly €20m in customs duties on imports, the Tax Administration told Dan.
When preparation works began in 2015, CRVBC was exempted from paying €8.6m in customs duties. The next year the sum amounted to €1.03m, whereas the Chinese company was exempted from paying €10.3m last year, which makes a total of €19.93m.
Constitutional Court recently rejected an appeal against the Law on the Highway, ie provisions stipulating exemption of the Chinese company from paying several tax and customs duties.
The deadline for finishing the works on the highway is 11 May 2019.
