Radulović: Church should unite, not divide

Radulović

Montenegro can already talk about benefits from NATO membership, and people involved in the tourism industry can confirm it best. This year, we recorded somewhat less number of Russian tourists but on the other side, arrivals from the Western Balkan countries, Middle East and China increased. Our accommodation capacities in the coming year have already been booked, as many events are going to be organized in our hotels. Therefore, there’s no doubt that Montenegro has become a part of the Western Balkans’ map by joining NATO, said Žarko Radulović, co-owner of Montenegro Stars Hotel Group and the president of Montenegro Tourism Association (CTU), in an interview for the weekend edition of Dnevne Novine daily.

Radulović also talked about planned celebrations in Budva and other Montenegrin coastal towns on the occasion of 100 years since the Podgorica Assembly took place. As for the Serbian Orthodox Church and Patriarch Irinej, Radulović told a church should unite, not divide people, and that all these announced celebrations represented maybe the last attempts of destabilizing Montenegro.

He said: “Apparently, there are people who still believe a 1918 scenario can be repeated. That’s ridiculous. Montenegro is an independent state and as the time is passing, more and more people gather that this independent state, which is a NATO member and on the road to EU, is a guarantee of better, more quality and safer life in these turbulent times. Therefore, all these attempts to provoke Montenegro maybe represent the last great effort to change something and please someone’s interests. We will witness these attempts even in the years that follow, but with somewhat weaker impact.”

As for the Podgorica Assembly, here’s what he thinks: “It’s just a gathering someone decided to call ‘assembly’. In order to establish an assembly, you need to have elections and choose the MPs. As we all know, no elections were ever held in this regard.”
