Cirgic: The thesis of Milojko Spajic – Europe Now 2 to create country of charity cases and extremely wealthy individuals

Sead Čirgić

Social Democrats’ official and former head of the Health Insurance Fund, Sead Cirgic, considers that the Europe Now 2 Program, designed by the future Prime Minister, Milojko Spajic, is going to make Montenegro a country of charity cases and extremely rich individuals.

In a statement for the CdM portal, Mr Cirgic says that the inaugural speech of the future PM Spajic looks like the thesis, where he takes the wealthiest and best arranged systems of the world as an example of what Montenegro should look like.

“And who doesn’t want to live like citizens of the wealthiest countries? It’s how Montenegro’s supposed to become during his term in office, as described in his inaugural speech. And there’s nothing to complain about although he says nothing about the economic ground for the implementation of the mentioned plan of activities. How much money do we need for the implementation of presented plans? How much are we going to ensure from real revenues, and how much from borrowings? What’s the projected GDP for something like that and what will be the average annual rate of economic growth during his term?”, asks Mr Cirgic.

According to him, there is a series of contradictions, particularly when it comes to finances – first, government borrowing is going to happen (we still don’t know the exact amount) and second, certain cuts, that is, the reform in the area of social policy – cutting the contributions for pension and disability insurance, as already announced.

Even though Mr Spajic, in his speech, didn’t mention higher salaries as he’d promised to citizens, Mr Cirgic believes that he’s going to fulfil it. However, he warns that it’s uncertain whether citizens are really going to have a better standard of living, because those same higher salaries are ensured from borrowing and cutting the contributions for pension and disability insurance.
