Citizen of Montenegro arrested for war crimes in Croatia

Former officer JNA Cedomir Borojevic (54), citizen of Montenegro and Croatia, was arrested in and taken to Split-Dalmacija police directorate due to suspicions that he has committed war crime against civils, Jutarnji.hr reports.

Borojevic was arrested on the border pass Karasovici between Croatia and Montenegro, based on the warrant of police directorate of Sibenik-Kninska. After he was arrested, Split State Prosecution decided to start an investigation, Croatian portal reports.

Investigative judge from Split court has accepted the decision and sentenced Borojevic to remand. His bail was set at 300 thousand Croatian kunas.

Cedomir Borojevic was a captain of war ship of former JNA, and he is believed to have ordered attack on Sibenik during JNA attack from 16th to 18th September 1991, when he captained 20th Border maritime division of 8th Military maritime sector of JNA. He ordered the crew to shot without choosing the target, with all available artillery, to shoot civil objects and civilians, in order to spread fear and take over the city.

His orders lead to great material damages in the city and endangered the life of citizens.
