Citizens can count on regular salaries and pensions

Ministar finansija Aleksandar Damjanović

“The budget framework for the next year is planned at around €2.85bn, of which around €350m refers to the settlement of overdue obligations for taken loans. The deficit is planned at a level above 5%, while the missing funds are €700m, and will be financed from deposits and borrowings, which will depend on the amounts of initial deposits for the next budget year”, Finance Minister Aleksandar Damjanovic has said in an interview for Pobjeda.

He points out that they have approached planning the budget for next year cautiously and responsibly, since, in addition to the regular challenges accompanying the creation of that document, they have faced with political instability and other numerous problems on the internal level, but also complex geopolitical environment.

“The market environment in 2023 will continue to be characterized by uncertainty, therefore our responsibility becomes greater and the need for guidelines for the creation of fiscal policy to be projected on bases that are grounded, realistic and include the sustainability of the budget, increases. However difficult it may be to create a sustainable financial framework for the coming year, citizens can count on the regular payment, as far as possible, of increased wages, pensions and social benefitsꓼ the economy is supported by the state, and we will do everything to bear the burden of the crisis without increasing key tax rates”, Damjanovic points out.
