In 2017, consumers mostly complained about public utilities, namely the amount of electricity, water and telecommunications bills, non-recognition of statute of limitations, non-compliance with contracts and legal deadlines for responding to complaints, the Consumer Protection Centre (CEZAP) told Dnevne Novine.
When it comes to food, the highest number of complaints relate to the purchase of meat, meat products, milk and dairy products.
“These objections often included poor quality, goods with expired ‘best before’ deadlines, inadequate storage of these products, poor hygiene conditions,” CEZAP says.
When asked which citizens’ complaints are most difficult to solve, CEZAP points out that the complaints from the domain of public services were the most complicated. The percentage of those successfully solved is very low, the centre adds.
However, CEZAP emphasises, there were no citizens’ complaints about Swiss franc loans in 2017. CEZAP calls to mind that the litigation against the Hypo Alpe Adria Bank (currently Addiko Bank) is ongoing in the Basic Court. It was initiated on behalf of 330 clients.
