Professor of the Faculty of Political Sciences Olivera Komar has reacted on Twitter regarding the criticism of the protest against the enthronement of the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral of the Serbian Orthodox Church Joanikije Micovic.
“These days, I’ve seen ‘surprise’ over the source of the resistance in Cetinje. It’s true – it is difficult to understand that Montenegrins are the only people who do not have any religious rights in today’s Montenegro. Almost the entire cultural-historical and religious heritage created by generations of their ancestors by the calculation and short-sightedness of the former, and by the calculation and submission of the current government, has been almost completely transferred to the church organization of another state.
It is completely clear to everyone who does not squint with open eyes that this is an organization that is now openly working on denying the Montenegrin identity and falsifying the cultural and historical heritage in order to assimilate Montenegrins”, she has tweeted, among other things.
“It is distasteful to compare this with uncivilized resistance to pride parades”, she stresses.
“Leaving aside the disgust and banality of the analogy – the LGBTQI + community does not deny the rights of those who do not belong to that community”, Komar points out.
“In the context of ever greater division and a serious threat to peace and security, the responsible government would stop the actions that provoke the reaction of the residents of Cetinje and a large number of citizens throughout Montenegro and start a dialogue that would result in respecting the religious rights of all citizens.
Therefore, Cetinje, 22 August 2021″, says Komar.
