The 11th Knowledge Factory was opened at the UDG university in Podgorica on Tuesday under the slogan Design Your Future.

This year, on 10 and 11 October the Knowledge Factory opened its facilities for the areas such as web design, Internet of Things and digital art, as well as for Internet security issues, gender equality in the IT world and other topics that inspire and motivate young generations.

Knowledge Factory, the largest regional educational IT event, brings a lot of excitement for students of elementary schools, high schools and universities. Organisers point out that this gathering is “free, but invaluable” as a motivation for all those who make the first steps in designing their own future.

The Knowledge Factory enables young people across the region to get acquainted with current trends in the IT world and learn more about the possibilities of finding their own place in it. This event is focused on encouraging active participation in the programme and independent research of the topics covered, with direct participation, exchanging ideas, encouraging creative thinking and motivation for acquiring new knowledge. This year, the event is held under the auspices of the Ministry of Science, the Ministry of Public Administration and the Ministry of Economy.
This year’s event was officially opened by the minister of science Sanja Damjanovic and the chancellor of the University of Donja Gorica (UDG), Veselin Vukotic.
The minister stated that it was a great pleasure to open the Knowledge Factory, one of the traditional programmes of the Open Days of Science festival dedicated to modern trends in IT.

The minister said: “I am sure that the Knowledge Factory already has excellent ideas that the Ministry of Science will always support. Early contacts with modern technologies and the acquisition of IT skills, which are necessary in the modern world, are important for young people, because they are precisely the key to success and bearers of the future. The Knowledge Factory looks into the future, encourages innovative ideas and creativity, what is needed to keep pace with world trends, express the potential and talent that we certainly have. That’s why, together with all our partners, the Comtrade company and the Donja Gorica University we are giving you another Knowledge Factory”.
Vukotic expressed satisfaction that the Knowledge Factory became a part of UDG, which has hosted this event for seven years. The University is open to cooperation not only with the academic community, but also with businesses, corporations and the community. In addition to investing in itself and relationships with others, the University builds one global image, a global network, preparing students to work in more prosperous companies around the world.

Creative workshops, such as the Small School of Design, Workshop for Creative Problem Solving, and the Ecological Workshop on Recycled Materials are used to make practical items in this year’s Fabric of Knowledge. In group workshops, participants will have the opportunity to directly engage and develop authentic interests for technologies and techniques that may later be used in their career.
And that’s not all because young people from Bar, Kotor, Herceg Novi, Danilovgrad, Spuz, Prcanj, Cetinje, Podgorica and other cities of Montenegro will share experiences with the most famous “youtubers” in the region, learn the basics of web programming and compete in knowledge quizzes, all aimed at expressing, inspiring, improving their skills, reinforcing self-confidence and encouraging curiosity.
In this way, the University of Donja Gorica and the Comtrade company continue their socially responsible role and strategic partnership, creating a stronger basis for the development of IT sectors throughout the region. The organisers themselves emphasise that “the knowledge Factory is not dedicated solely to providing answers, but also encourages looking for new issues”.
