For the past three years, Government of Montenegro has implemented numerous projects aimed at improving quality of work in the field of preschool, elementary, vocational and high education and science. Through Public Works Administration, the Government has invested over €30 million in the development of education, building kindergartens, schools and reconstructing existing facilities. As representatives of the Public Works Administration say, many new kindergartens and schools in City kvart in Podgorica are to be built soon.

Director of Public Works Administration, Mr Rešad Nuhodžić, says that construction of kindergartens has been recognized as one of the most important segments, considering the evident need for increasing the number of places in the existing preschool units.

Kindergarten in Tuzi

“Thanks to the cooperation with the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) and the granted credit line in the amount of €10 million, from December 2016 to September 2019, three brand new kindergartens have been opened – in Zagorič, in Stari aerodrom and in Tuzi, totaling €4,5 million. With the construction of approximately 6.000 square meters of space in new facilities, we have increased the capacities of kindergartens and nurseries by nearly 800 places”, says Mr Nuhodžić.

The future kindergarten in Rožaje

The Government is financing the construction of preschool facility in Rožaje and the works are going according to plan.

School in Golubovci

“This investment is worth €1,5 million and with its implementation Rožaje will get a modern and functional facility for the accommodation of nearly 100 children. We also want to create conditions for the construction of kindergarten in City kvart in Podgorica, as that part of the Capital is developing at great speed. Works on the new Vocational mixed school in Golubovci have been completed recently and it is one of the most beautiful and most contemporary facilities when it comes to education. The investment was financed by the Government and it was worth €5,5 million. Now students in Zeta are enabled high-quality theoretical and practical filed work”, says Mr Nuhodžić.

School in Guke
Tehnopolis

I’ll remind you that, last year, we finished construction of Elementary school in Guke, settlement in Pljevlja. The entire northern part of the country is a huge construction site. One of numerous projects is the construction of “Dušan Korać” elementary school, and elementary musical school in Bijelo Polje. The construction started a couple of months ago. The investment will take €5,4 million”, says Mr Nuhodžić.

Public Works Administration is trying to meet the established deadlines for the completion of some construction phases. Therefore, children in Bijelo Polje might have better conditions in two years.

“The past three years have seen so many important projects: reconstruction of “Milan Vuković” elementary school in Herceg Novi, construction of boiler room and infrastructure connections for the University center in Berane, construction and equipment of Business incubators in Cetinje and construction of Innovation and Entrepreneur center in Nikšić. Many new projects in the field of preschool and elementary education are currently underway”, says Mr Nuhodžić.

Faculty of Fine Arts

According to him, Government is simultaneously implementing huge investments in the field of high education.

“One of the most important projects here is the construction of a university complex of the faculty of arts. Many university units will be built on nearly 3,15 hectares. Construction of the Faculty of Fine Arts is entering its final phase. This is a miraculous academic block, with functional cabinets, multimedia halls, administrative block, underground garage with 126 parking places, energy facilities and other technical premises”, Mr Nuhodžić points out.

He says that improvement of quality of work at every education level represents one of the Government’s priorities.
