At its latest session, the Government of Montenegro passed the 2020 Plan on concessions for the use of water flows for the construction of hydro power plants in MNE. The plan envisages only one concession on the Komarnica river for the construction of “Komarnica” hydro power plant. Apart from the said water flow, the govt also envisages concessions for other micro, small and large hydro power plants.
To be more precise, the concession includes the design, use and maintenance of the Komarnica hydro power plant. In line with the law, it will be directly granted to the Electric Power Company of Montenegro, being the joint stock company with 88.66% of stocks possessed by the state. The state also independently nominates all members of its managing bodies,” the govt said.
The govt’s document clearly suggests that the additional power supplies represent a prerequisite for the development of the economy and its growth, as well as for boosting the quality of life of Montenegro citizens.
“In order to ensure the necessary electricity supplies, we have to import them or construct our own production capacities,” the document denotes.
