Chapters 23 and 24 are extremely significant and if you achieve good results in these fields, you’ll manage to close other chapters as well. I’m sure the European Union (EU) won’t turn a blind eye to these two chapters, acting Slovakia Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Ivan Korčok, has said in his interview with Pobjeda. He has emphasized that MPs had been elected to sit in a parliament and represent political programs, and not to compete and oppose each other at the plenary sessions.
Korčok says Montenegro has achieved a lot on the road to EU membership. “You have become a full member of NATO Alliance and you have strong European perspective. You started negotiations in 2012 and you are leaders in EU integrations and therefore you can be proud of the results achieved so far. The enlargement strategy has been an extremely significant aspect of the EU and it proves that all countries of the region have strong European perspective, but this document should not be underestimated,“ Korčok has noted.
He also mentioned that the EU has been facing many challenges but there are strong reasons to be optimistic when it comes to its future.
As for the relations with Russia, he claimed states should cherish friendly relations with it. “Russia has been a very significant country and we’re trying to have good relations with Moscow, but we must impose certain limitations. Russia’s annexation of Crimea was unacceptable,“ he concluded.
