The cyclists have released a video where it can be seen them being checked by members of the Montenegrin border police, claiming that the police officers stopped them on Sunday in the locality of Kuciste in the Rugova gorge, which, as they claim, is “deep in the territory of Kosovo”.
The video shows three officers with Montenegrin police labels stopping them in one of the forest paths and asking their documents for checking. Then one of them gives a sign to the cyclists to get back and another one is asking to stop filming with a video camera from a bicycle.
According to Kosovo Police, Montenegrins do not control the territory of Kosovo, while TV Klan claims that the group of Kosovo cyclists was stopped at 50 meters from the border between the two countries in the territory of Kosovo…
Kosovo police claims that the encounter between border guards and cyclists occurred in June rather than on August 30th, and that the group of cyclists was stopped because they did not have permission to cross the border, “which means that it was an attempt of illegal crossing”.
We remind that last week representatives of Montenegro and Kosovo signed the Demarcation Agreement, according to the Constitution of 1974, which caused a protest of hundred citizens of Pec and surrounding villages who claimed that 12 hectares of Kosovo territory was seized by the Agreement.
They headed towards the border between the two countries, but they were stopped soon. They announced new protests in a different form, stating that they would “never recognise the border of conflict and instability” and urging MPs not to support the Agreement.
