During the working visit to the United States, the Finance Minister, Aleksandar Damjanovic, met with Brad Crabtree, the Assistant Secretary for the Department of Energy, in charge of fossil energy and carbon management.
“At the meeting with the chief of the US Energy Ministry, responsible for fossil energy and carbon management, Mr Damjanovic discussed the intensification of cooperation between Montenegro and the US in the energy field, as well as the creation of conditions for somewhat greater engagement of US companies in the Montenegrin market,” the Ministry of Finance has stated.
Both sides noted that the energy security was of paramount importance for further development of both Montenegro and the region, so in that sense, they considered several energy projects, primarily focusing on a terminal for liquefied natural gas (LNG) which could, as assessed, become an important hub in the Western Balkans.
Minister Damjanovic also talked to Alex Whittington, Chief of the International Affairs in CHENIERE, the largest producer of liquified natural gas in Europe, and second-ranked globally.
They discussed how Montenegro could be a part of the energy transformation through the installation of the LNG terminal, so they agreed on some concrete steps concerning possible cooperation between Montenegro and this renowned company.
