Djukanovic: Savnik elections a test for state, competent authorities should ensure that citizens can vote

Milo Đukanović

The President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, has called on all competent institutions to ensure that citizens who have the right to vote in Savnik exercise their constitutional right on Sunday.

“The fourth attempt to hold elections in the Municipality of Savnik is at least an issue of local politics and the ratio of the number of councilors. It is a kind of test for the state that will show whether there is any strength and will within the institutions to guarantee the protection of basic human rights and freedoms”, President Djukanovic has tweeted.

Or, as he adds, after two years of systematic dismantling, they are completely incapable of performing their basic duty – protect the interests of the state and its citizens.

“I call on all competent institutions to ensure that the citizens who have the right to vote in Savnik exercise their constitutional right on Sunday”, he has concluded.
