President of Montenegro, Milo Djukanovic, believes that the EU enlargement policy was one of its most successful policies, unfortunately halted right before the WB countries were on the agenda.
“I think the slowdown opens space for interference of third parties. Unfortunately, those third parties operate from platforms that are opposed to core European interests, and that brings additional confusion to the policies of the Western Balkan countries,” President Djukanovic said in an interview for northern Macedonian TV21.
The President also says that the best future for all societies in the WB is the European and Euro-Atlantic one.
According to him, the EU should start negotiations with North Macedonia and Albania as soon as possible.
Kosovo should be offered visa liberalisation, whereas negotiation talks with Montenegro and Serbia should be further encouraged, said the President.
