Montenegro has a representative in the management structures of European aviation organisations for the first time. Director of the Montenegrin Agency for Civil Aviation Dragan Djurovic has been elected as a member of the Coordinating Committee of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC). The Paris headquartered organisation is one of the most important European aviation institutions.
Djurovic has been elected by a unanimous support of 44 ECAC member states.
“The main objective of the ECAC is to create a safe, secure, efficient and continuous European air traffic system through the harmonisation of the management of this traffic among members. The Coordinating Committee manages ECAC. It consists of 11 directors of civil aviation of the most important European countries, who take responsibility for managing specific areas of ECAC’s activities. The Coordination Committee is currently consisted of directors of the aviation authorities of France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Italy, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands, Finland and Slovakia,” the Civil Aviation Agency said in its statement.
Djurovic is the only member of the Coordinating Committee coming from a country outside the European Union.
“Appointing Djurovic represents recognition for personal commitment and very good results of Civil Aviation Agency of Montenegro in the development of security and safety of air traffic,” the statement said.
After the election, Djurovic thanked the countries for their support, pointing out that this was a great recognition for Montenegro, the Agency for Civil Aviation and himself.
