By opening the day care centre 27+ in Niksic, the Social Welfare Centre for the municipalities of Niksic, Savnik and Pluzine continued with a good practice of opening new services.
The Marriage and Family Counselling Centre service is the result of a cross-border cooperation project between Montenegro and Serbia. It is aimed to providing support to all those who face challenges and problems in their personal and family life.
“In the Counselling Centre, various types of counselling services can be provided, which are educational and preventive. It is planned that professional workers will be trained in the future to enable their citizens to provide therapeutic services, which will also expand the services of the Counselling Centre,” expert associate at the Social Welfare Centre Maja Marojevic said.
The centre’s expert team records an increased number of reported domestic violence cases. In 2017, 70 violence cases were reported, while in 2016, there were 56 of them.
The Centre also registered 18 cases of abuse and neglect of children. During the previous year there were also 67 reported delinquent offenders (a drop compared to 2016 when this number was 108). The reports were most often related to driving without passing the driver’s exam, violent behaviour, disturbance of public order and peace and causing slight body injuries.
