The Presidency of the DPS previously acquainted with the request of the SDP to dismiss the Vice President and minister Information Society, Vujica Lazovic, and the Minister of Transport and Maritime Affairs, Ivan Brajovic. After the split in the SDP, Mr Lazovic and Mr Brajovic left the party and formed a new one, but they refused to return their ministerial mandates.
In late July, the SDP officially required from the DPS dismissal of Lazovic and Brajovic from the Government.
At last night’s meeting of the Presidency of the DPS, the response for the SDP was prepared.
“In the context of expecting NATO invitation and corresponding continuity it is unrealistic to change the composition of the Government in this moment”, it was stated in the DPS’s response.
Also, Prime Minister, Milo Djukanovic, wants a stable government that will work until the next election, which will likely take place in spring next year.
On the other hand, the SDP had previously stressed they expected the DPS to act by their request in the spirit of the coalition agreement, which has still been in force.
In addition to having prepared the response to the SDP, last night the Presidency of the DPS decided that a meeting of the most responsible people of the DPS with the management of municipal boards and local governments where the DPS is on power should be organised soon. The meeting is to be dedicated to analysis of implementing of election programmes in municipalities, activities implemented within the framework of the campaign to raise public support for joining NATO and regular party activities.
“It was also decided that a meeting of the General Board of the DPS should to be held by the end of October. In accordance with the statutory obligation, implementing of the party election programme should be discussed at the meeting”, the DPS communicated.
The Presidency of the DPS has decided that a session of the Council to Monitor Implementation of the Electoral Programme should be held in mid-November, when strategic development projects with deadlines for their implementation should be defined, with the aim to improve quality of life for all citizens of Montenegro.
