“After yesterday’s SDP statement, an uninformed reader might get an impression that a brutal, authoritarian, undemocratic and ignorant DPS was in power in Montenegro, but luckily there is the Parliament of Montenegro personified in its Speaker as the only shield against the alleged ‘autocracy’ and ‘incompetence’ of the executive power”, the DPS said in a statement.
The DPS pointed out that Parliament was not the same as its Speaker, whoever he/she was, despite it had been presented that way.
“The Assembly consists of 81 members, most of which are from the DPS. Therefore praises to the Parliament do not represent praises for the Speaker, regardless the efforts invested to present it in that way to the public,” the DPS communicated.
On the other hand, they added, the executive power was not the same as the DPS.
“The backbone of the executive branch is the DPS-SDP coalition, so that the Speaker’s ‘distancing based on principles’ from the executive branch means distancing from something the SDP itself participates in through high ranked positions. In doing so, the ‘distancing’ consisted of flirting with the opposition, which, naturally, welcomes such moves, and of demagogic-patriotic laments over the interests of Montenegro and of the alleged worrying about social justice. Moving to the other side, i.e. the formalisation of relations with the opposition (which mostly represents politics of negation of post-referendum Montenegro) has not happened because there is no long-term welcome for the SDP’s ‘semi-politics’, but just the short-term one as long as the current political regrouping lasts,” the DPS communicated.
They claimed the SDP’s politics caused a lot of harm to the citizens of Montenegro, adding that three laws were initiated by the Speaker of the Parliament himself only to be rejected by the Constitutional Court.
“Alleged creator of the Constitution defends the supreme legal act by unconstitutional laws in the same way he defends Montenegro from investors willing to invest in it. The whole country expects not to be defended in this way any longer,” the DPS communicated.
They also commented SDP’s criticism against privatization of the Aluminium Plant (KAP).
“There was a set the offensive-defensive interpretation of the facts yesterday, but it still remained the interpretation, not a fact. Thus there is the retrospective wisdom related to the privatisation of the KAP, which has “recently” been implemented (apparently to the SDP’s surprise). That is an interpretation of the fact. And the fact is that it all happened back in 2005 with the agreement of both coalition partners from the beginning,” the DPS communicated adding that the SDP mentioned implausible and actually false allegations on harm caused by the project, including the alleged “subsidies to Deripaska”. “Those are interpretations of the facts. The fact is that no subsidies have ever existed or granted!”
Thus, there is an impressive figure of €400 million “saved by the SDP” obstructing the privatisation of the Coal Mine ‘Pljevlja’ and the Thermal Power Plant ‘Pljevlja’ only a few years ago.
“Hence the silence and lack of reference to then famous ‘Plan B’ that will ‘save the state’s silver’. That is an interpretation of facts. And the fact is there was commitment to prevent that much investment in the privatisation of the TE ‘Pljevlja’ and the Coal Mine, together with the construction of the TE second block, the rehabilitation of landfills, a new pit in Maoce and, perhaps most importantly, the construction of the heating system of Pljevlja,” the DPS communicated.
They reminded that the Minister of Sustainable Development and Tourism, Branimir Gvozdenovic, and the Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Milutin Simovic, precisely mentioned list of acts contrary to the Constitution and laws adopted by the Parliament led by its Speaker, adding that the citizens of Montenegro were still waiting for the answers on that.
