The fact that the opposition is demanding new elections as a condition for returning to Parliament is irrational and undemocratic, prime minister Dusko Markovic says. He points out that it is in the interest of the government to bring the opposition back to Parliament and to process all the issues, including the issue of elections, through the institutions of the system.
“So there is no blackmail, just a dialogue within the institutions. Offer on the ‘take it or leave it’ principle is not for DPS. DPS will soon put forward a proposal for a dialogue,” Markovic said appearing as a guest at a Radio Montenegro programme.

He said that this did not mean that the opposition should end the Parliament boycott.

“It means to discuss OSCE’s recommendations in Parliament and agree on the scope and content of the amendments, to adopt them unanimously in Parliament and to provide the conditions for the presidential and local elections next year. We invite them to talk about that and about every other issue. Their condition is the date of new general election and it is blackmail. There will be no discussion with the opposition on this condition outside Parliament,” Markovic said.
