Dr Marina Ratković

An anti-viral medicine Remdesivir will be available in Montenegro as of July, when Montenegro is about to get certain amount of this drug to cure 300 selected Covid-19 patients, Dr Marina Ratković of the Clinical Center of Montenegro told CdM.

“We have managed to enter the group of those who will be allowed to use Remdesivir for some time. We will order quantities of medicine for 300 patients, because this type of medicine is not given out of hospital, and is given to those who have serious health problems. It won’t be easy to use it, as we have to expect negative effects as well. This is a drug for patients mildly or seriously ill with the coronavirus,” explained Dr Ratković who has been well respected amongst her colleagues.

According to her, the medicine will arrive in July and the country is getting it for free following the agreement with the World Health Organization, WHO.

Remdesivir drug, Dr Ratković added, was used for treatment of patients in 2104 and showed positive effect.

“That is why this drug was investigated for Covid-19. It is administered via injection over the course of ten days. It directly destroys the virus,“ she was adamant.
