Draft law on NATO agreement ratification sent to Parliament

The Government of Montenegro has adopted the Draft Law on the Ratification of the North Atlantic Agreement and sent it to the Parliament for passing by a quick vote.

As the government pointed out, the Euro-Atlantic integration and membership in NATO has been one of Montenegro’s strategic foreign policy priorities since its independence restoration.

“Learning from the experience of loss of independence after World War I, Montenegro needs to rationally look at all the options in the current geopolitical circumstances and make a decision that will protect its national interests and security in the most convenient and economically most justified way,” the government stated.

After US President Donald Trump signed the ratified protocol on the NATO expansion, only Spain and the Netherlands are left to finalise the ratification procedure.
