Đukanović: Let’s be responsible and consistent as we’re in a critical phase

President of Montenegro, Mr Milo Đukanović, visited today General Hospital in Berane, the regional center for the north, and got acquainted with the level of preparedness and capacities for the reception and treatment of patients infected with coronavirus.

Mr Đukanović made a plea in Berane.

“Let’s be consistent. This is the critical phase of the pandemic. Let’s be responsible like we have been over the past weeks and even more than that. Let’s support efforts to get through this next week, through the next ten days with as less harmful consequences as possible. After that I am sure we are going to be in a phase where we will be controlling further development of the situation even more because we will have clear picture of the epidemic in Montenegro”, President said.

Mr Đukanović is an optimist. He firmly believes what we have achieved so far is a lot.

“That’s result of serious preparation of the system and great responsibility of our citizens. I know we are soon going to normalize life in Montenegro and return to our regular habits and activities”, Mr Đukanović said.

He adds he had chance to hear today that General hospital in Berane was ready to respond to the tasks provoked by the pandemic and provide necessary protection to the residents of Berane and the entire northern part of the country.

President also had opportunity to hear information from the Crisis Unit – Montenegro’s system is functioning well in the present challenges and thanks to that we have managed to prevent coronavirus outbreak in an earlier phase. So far, we have been dealing with it successfully and preventing its uncontrolled spreading so today we can say that situation in Montenegro is under control.

“The fact that we provided enough quantities of medical and protective equipment is encouraging. However, how ever the system is successful, it’s not omnipotent. Since we don’t have vaccines and efficient medical therapy, it is important that we adhere to recommendations of social distancing and isolation”, President says.

President firmly believes we are now going through  critical times when it comes to coronavirus pandemic.

“The next seven or ten days are critical. According to the experience of other countries, this is the period in which we will get acquainted with reliable trends of the disease. Therefore, it is important we stay disciplined and understand the measures imposed by state authorities so that we can get out of this situation soon”, President concluded.

Lazović: We haven’t neglected northern region

Head of the Crisis Unit, Dr Ranko Lazović, said in Berane today that measures had produced certain result because we had been the first country in the region to do that.

“Northern region will never be neglected. All three regions are being treated the same way”, Dr Lazović pointed out.

Director of the General hospital in Berane said to the residents today: We are here for you, and you just stay home!
