Đukanović: Substantial educational reform needed

Lack of up-to-date knowledge and implementation of new technologies have been recognized as the key limitation for further progress of our country, while the long-term response lies in the substantial educational reform, emphasized the President of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović, at today’s meeting with the Minister of Education of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Hussain bin Ibrahim Al Hammadi.

Đukanović said: “In this context, the UAE has made a huge step forward and that is why it’s extremely important for us to cherish our friendly relations and thus learn from their experience.”

He also noted Montenegro needs an in-depth educational reform, which is a process requiring time, but it must not give up on a serious approach in overcoming this issue.

Đukanović also informed the education minister of UAE that Montenegro is going to set up a specific fund in order to ensure money for a number of the most talented students who will be able to further develop themselves at the most prestigious universities in the world.

Al Hammadi, on the other hand, stressed they are ready to draw up a master plan together with the Montenegrin colleagues so that Montenegro doesn’t repeat mistakes the UAE did in its own educational reform.
