At the invitation of UN Secretary General, Mr António Guterres, French President, Mr Emmanuel Macron, his Chilean counterpart, Mr Sebastián Piñera, as well as prime ministers of the United Kingdom, Mr Boris Johnson, and Italy, Mr Giuseppe Conte, Montenegro’s President, Mr Milo Đukanović, will take part today in the online Climate Ambition Summit, which is being held to mark the fifth anniversary of the Paris Agreement.
“The summit, which is not part of the mandatory plan of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, will provide a platform for leaders to announce a new ambitious commitment under the Paris Agreement,” Mr Đukanović’s office stated.
Apart from the world’s top government officials, non-state actors, including civil society, economy, academic community, indigenous groups and young people will gather for this online summit starting today at 3 pm.
