Djukanovic’s top priority: DPS to win in presidential elections

Milo Đukanović

The leader of the ruling Democratic Party of Socialists (DPS), Milo Djukanovic, said the priority of DPS is to win a landslide victory in the upcoming presidential elections. In his speech at the electoral convention of Budva municipal assembly, Djukanovic reminded of disappointing results in the local elections held in Budva and thus emphasized the DPS has been examining their roots for some time.

“We are on the verge of finding its cause and how to overcome the issue so that we may improve our policy in Budva”, the leader of DPS highlighted. He estimated that the DPS has to use given new opportunity and make the right decision through careful selection of members of its municipal assembly.

When it comes to the policy of DPS at the state level, Djukanovic says there is a strong reason to be satisfied. “DPS continues to preserve its electoral and overall political result which have never dropped to below 40% even after 27 years of its ruling”, said the leader of the governing party in Montenegro.

Djukanovic also added it’s evident the opposition has been struggling to draw attention of the international bodies by boycotting parliament, but clarified that the DPS intends to run its mandate until 2020, as it’s a matter of responsibility towards voters.
