€390m spent on highway construction

According to the Ministry of Transport and Maritime Affairs, EUR 390 million has been spent on highway construction so far. The Ministry and China’s CRBC company say the works are being performed along the entire route of the priority highway section, from Smokovac to Mateševo.

“In 2015, the contractor was paid two installments of the advance payment, i.e. EUR 161.6 million, whereas in 2016, we paid EUR 9.2 million for preparatory works, projecting and a part of completion works. In 2017, we paid EUR 176.3 million. This year, a total of EUR 42.3 million was paid to the contractor by the end of March,” the Ministry of Transport revealed.

Representatives of the Ministry reminded of the Budget Law, which envisages a total of EUR 199.27 million to be paid to China’s CRBC company this year.

“The budget law enables payments to be made depending on the level of implementation,” said the Ministry.

The CRBC company claims they’re satisfied with achieved results.

According to Ministry and this company, out of a total of 16 tunnels, works are being performed on 15. More than 3,300 workers have been engaged on highway construction, the Chinese company stated.
