The draft 2018 budget law for the Ministry of Economy foresees budget funds in the amount of €9.88m, which is by €3.61m, ie 57.6% higher compared to this year’s allocations for the ministry.
The growth of the budget funds for this department is primarily caused by the payment of legal advisors in arbitration proceedings, which were initiated by former owners of the Niksic-based steelworks and the Podgorica-based Aluminium Plant (KAP) against Montenegro.
The largest part of this consumer unit should be spent on service costs – €3.14m, which is 330% more than this year’s allocations for these purposes. For the most part, expenditures relate to advocacy, notary and legal services and consulting services, projects and studies.
Costs notary and legal services are planned in the amount of €2.17m, of which €2.12m refers to the payment of legal advisors for arbitration proceedings against Montenegro.
