EBRD invests €10 million in the modernization of Voli supermarket chain

Thanks to a €10 million loan provided by the EBRD, consumers and agriculture producers in Montenegro will benefit from further extension of Voli, leading supermarket chain in the country and one of the biggest buyers of local products, said the representatives of EBRD.

Funds will be used for opening four new Voli stores, including one supermarket and one smaller and one big store. Part of funds will be used for the reconstruction and extension of five existing stores.

With 30% market share and 66 retail facilities across the country, Voli is the leading chain of groceries and one of widely recognized brands in Montenegro.

New stores will be located in insufficiently-services regions, outside main urban areas, where stores of such formats are very rare.

EBRD funds will also be used for financing at least 750 apprentices and thus enable young people to access to training and acquiring new skills.

“This is a nice continuation of our stable cooperation with Voli company. Through further support we will enhance development between agriculture producers and sale chains and we strengthen private sector and make it more resistant and innovative”, said Mr Jap Sprej, EBRD head in Montenegro.

EBRD is the leading institutional investor in Montenegro. So far it has invested €571 million in different economic sectors.
