Economy to gather momentum with increased production and export

Macroeconomic movements in Montenegro this year will be characterized by investment activity, diversification of national economy with strengthened production and increased export and further improvement of fiscal position with moderate growth in private expenditure and import.

According to the Government’s program for this year, growth rate will amount to 3,4%.

“The most important sectors, tourism, energy, agriculture and industry will be generators of economic growth in the forthcoming period, with sustainable value of important natural and other resources”.

Implementation of structural reforms and adequate sector policies is an important segment of economic policy and prerequisite of the growth of Montenegrin economy.

“As a country which is set to create image of a country ready to develop itself in economic terms, value its potentials and improve economic branches, implementation of reforms remain top priority this year”, the document stated.

Northern part is expected to experience accelerated development, owing to wood and energy potential, agricultural potential, especially in the domain of healthy food production.

“In 2020, Government will continue to implement fiscal policy measures with the aim of transferring to the public finances deficit zone and reducing public debt. It will continue to implement measures of economic policy with a view to strengthening macroeconomic stability of the country, especially consolidation of public finances and improvement of financial sector stability”, the document said.
