Montenegrin Employers Federation demands the withdrawal of the draft law on amendments to the Labour Law, providing for an increase in the minimum wage from €222 to €250. The Federation requires the return of the law to the Social Council and the procedure prescribed by national and international regulations. It points out that the amendments have not been agreed with employers and trade unions.
A letter sent to the Speaker of the Parliament, Aleksa Bečić, says that it is the state’s obligation to regulate the minimum wage increase through negotiations and reaching a compromise between the Government and social partners.
The fact that the Social Council did not determine the proposal to increase the minimum wage nor was it previously aware of a similar initiative, can be perceived as a gross collapse of social dialogue and the Social Council’s role, the letter says.
The Federation also believes that such an important issue is approached hastily, that is, without a serious analysis of the impact of the proposed minimum wage increase on the economy, but also on the public sector costs.
