EPCG allowed to buy Steelworks, money to be provided through revised budget

The Prime Minister in the technical mandate, Dritan Abazovic, says that the Government is ready to protect the workers of Steelworks, and that it supports the efforts of Montenegro’s power supplier, EPCG, to take over the property of this factory and start its own business activities in that area. As he has pointed out after the meeting with the representatives of the Steelworks workers, it is a logical step for the Government to buy 10% of EPCG’s shares, so that EPCG can use that money to buy the Steelworks property.

“EPCG is allowed to agree the purchase of Steelworks in negotiations with Toscelik,” Abazovic has said.

He is worried by the fact that the Turkish company has announced layoffs for workers as of 1 September.
