US Special Envoy for the Western Balkans Gabriel Escobar is to arrive in Montenegro on 1 February, CdM has learned.
Escobar was in Montenegro in November, when he said that the United States stands by all those who support a sovereign and civil Montenegro.
He told the Voice of America a few days ago that there are still deep divisions in Montenegro, tensions between the ruling coalition and the opposition, but also tensions within the ruling coalition itself.
Asked what he sees as a solution to political instability in Montenegro, which also affects its progress towards EU membership, Escobar said that it was not up to the United States to resolve the tensions and problems of the ruling coalition within a NATO member.
